Inissia Solo / Inissia with Milk
The Nespresso Inissia is known for its light benchtop footprint, convenient design structure and affordable price point. This space-saving model can be purchased as a solo machine ($199)* or with milk ($269)* and works harmoniously with a wide range of reusable pods.
The Inissia is an excellent machine for those with limited space and time! However, don't let its small size fool you into thinking it can't produce a delicious brew - this machine certainly does deliver a speedy, tasty espresso! Simply designed and high performing, the Inissia will stand the test of time in any kitchen or office space.
Pros: WayCap are unmatched when it comes to a waste-reducing coffee pod. Ethically crafted from premium quality stainless steel design, WayCap are endlessly reusable and require no ongoing purchases. Each WayCap pod comes with 4 interchangeable steel filters - vital components that give you the ability to refine your extraction results as you experiment with various coffee grinds and blends. High quality capsules are an investment, and while the initial financial outlay for WayCap may seem high, embracing a lifestyle of refilling and reusing will actually save you a significant amount of cash in the long run. It's also worth noting that the WayCap brand has extremely high manufacturing standards and is leading the way in sustainable and integrity-driven production practices.
Cons: Prior to brewing a WayCap pod, it's imperative that attention is given to the preparation process. Capsules formed from 100% stainless steel behave very differently to disposable pods, and require a little more care and patience while perfecting the resulting brew. We recommend experimenting with the different filters to refine your method, and discover what works best for you and your machine. To create a strong, or long coffee with WayCap, we recommend brewing 2 pods per cup.
Pros: If you're looking for a reusable capsule that is easy to use, produces coffee that packs a punch and is compatible with a wide range of machines, Bluecup is for you! Brilliantly designed and budget-friendly, this system is an excellent choice for those who are looking for a waste-reducing option that behaves similarly to a single-use pod in nature. Just like a disposable pod, Bluecup lids are pierced during extraction, creating an internal pressure build-up, resulting in a richer brew and crema. Capsules with aluminium pierceable lids produce the richest, strongest coffee that you can get from a reusable pod, and the flexible design structure of Bluecup makes for a consistently easy, user-friendly brewing experience for the consumer.
The Bluecup system receives rave reviews by consumers, and critics alike, such as this review by The Sydney Morning Herald.
Bluecup capsules and components are ISO certified, BPA free, and are tested for food safety and durability. The capsule itself is made from polypropylene (the safest food-grade plastic.)
Cons: Bluecup lids are made from aluminium, and do need to be recycled. The cost per lid is approx 10¢ each - still a very affordable cuppa. Bluecup are not infinitely reusable (though they are a vast improvement on the single-use variety), consumers should expect to get somewhere around 400 uses out of their Bluecup capsules. At the end of their life, they can be recycled in the same way as you would recycle other plastics, through your household recycling system.
Pros: SealPod are a high-performing refillable capsule line designed for a lifetime of use! The infinitely reusable stainless steel base, combined with the aluminium sticker lids mean that you achieve deliciously creamy espresso every time. Preparation is simple and done simply by filling the base with ground coffee (using the provided scoop or nifty Perfect Press filling device), and sealing with your choice of compostable paper lid or recyclable aluminium lid. Extremely affordable and environmentally conscious, this super convenient system embodies simplicity and efficiency. SealPod can also be used to brew loose-leaf tea using the Biodegradable Lids.
Cons: Whilst the capsule base will outlive your machine, SealPod aluminium lids are a recyclable component, and of course require a small ongoing purchase (roughly 15¢ per lid.)
Bluecup is our go-to when it comes to the Inissia machine! Delivering delicious coffee and reducing waste, Bluecup truly is a satisfying sustainable system. Bluecup is compatible with all Inissia machines, including Breville, DeLonghi and Nespresso models.
The simple act of refilling your Bluecup capsules and composting the grounds means you'll be significantly cutting down your contribution to landfill, plus you can enjoy the added bonus of delicious coffee in the process!
